Brambleton hosts Fall Festival, Geocaching Event & Tweetup!

Geocaching, tweetup, amusements, rides, karaoke, a petting zoo, pony rides, face-painting and live band music are among the many fun family activities coming to the Brambleton Town Center on Saturday, Oct. 9 during the community's Fall Festival sponsored by the Brambleton Homeowners Association and the Brambleton Group.

In case you're not familiar with Geocaching, this high-tech treasure hunting game uses GPS devices and now has an estimated four to five million enthusiasts of all ages all over the world. Based on the premise of locating hidden containers (geocaches) in your own community and then sharing your experiences electronically, participants find themselves on a treasure hunt utilizing latitude and longitude coordinates.

Besides a sense of fun and adventure, participants will need a GPS unit, or a Geocaching application on a smart phone (however a GPS is more accurate). Instructions for Brambleton's Geocaching event can be found on the Brambleton website, or on the Geocaching site

Fall Festival activities for all ages begin at the Brambleton Town Center at 1 p.m. and last until the band, Road Soda, performs from 6 to 8 p.m. on the main stage. Amusements and rides, including the Step Sisters Spooky Train Ride in Legacy Park, will operate from 1 to 7 p.m. Additionally, Brambleton will sponsor their first ever Mashable Tweetup for their Twitter followers from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Brambleton Welcome Center (Brambleton Plaza & Regal Wood Drive).

Other highlights include the Sport & Health Olympics (ages 13 and up) from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Petting Zoo and pony rides from 3 to 7 p.m. A complete schedule will be available on the Brambleton website.
