A Message of Thanks from Brambleton Town Center Tenants Go Bananas and Misguided Angels

"When I'm just the owner of a neighborhood toy store, how in the world do I thank an entire community for the unimaginable outpouring of support that Go Bananas experienced this weekend? Never, never, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined Small Business Saturday like the one we had yesterday. I am emotionally overwhelmed by your support, kind words, smiles, and hugs throughout the day. Go Bananas is my dream. It may seem silly to some. Even crazy to others. I even feel that way sometimes. But it is my dream. A dream that allows me to give back to the community I love and bring smiles to many children and their families. I thank you for investing in my dreams and our community."  Mary Holmes, Go Bananas Toy Store

"Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out and showed your support on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday! We had our best Black Friday and Small Business Saturday ever, and as a result, the best November ever! Thanks for showing us some love, keep it coming!!" Kim Hutchings, Misguided Angels

DAAR Economic Update

“We think there have been two game changers for Loudoun County over last 50 years,”
Rizer said. “The first was [Dulles] airport. The second is the Internet—when AOL came here in 1997 and the Internet hub moved from Tysons to Loudoun. The next game changer for Loudoun will be the Metro. We are focused on Loudoun 2018. That is when Metro will get here…we are confident in that. We are working to make sure that Loudoun County is ready.” Click here to read the full Leesburg Today article.

Lace Up for Learning Brings Together Community to Support Schools

The inaugural Lace Up forLearning 5k & Mascot Mini Mile was a huge success. More than 600 people laced up to support their schools on a crisp November morning at BrambletonTown Center.

This family-oriented “fun-racing” event included a USATF certified 5k course and a kids’ fun run. Designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and engage local communities in support of their schools, the event exceeded expectations for a first-year event.

Registrants designated their preferred beneficiary school during the registration process, which directed funds to their school. A strong turnout and generous sponsorship support from the business community allowed a total of $8,350 to benefit Brambleton’s schools:

Moorefield Station Elementary School PTO raised $971.00
Stone Hill Middle School PTO raised $928.00
Briar Woods High School Key Club raised $826.00

As a condition of receiving event funds, beneficiary schools were required to provide volunteer support in addition to registrants. More than 125 volunteers supported the event including 65 Briar Woods High School Key Club members and Cub Scout Pack 1500.

Participants donned their school spirit wear with pride and a number of school mascots were on-hand at the finish line to cheer in the younger runners in the Mascot Mini Mile. Nearly 100 Brambleton Kids Run the Nation kids and their families participated in the race as the culminating event of the fall season.

The event was dedicated in the memory of Alex Lamme. Alex was a long-time Brambleton resident who passed away suddenly in April. He is survived by his wife, Janae, and four children. Friends and family of the Lammes wore blue “In Memory of Alex” shirts at the event. Alex’s Father and a partner from the law firm where Alex worked for 14 years spoke at the event. An education trust fund was established for the children in conjunction with the Lace Up event and $6,250 was contributed to the fund.

The Alex Lamme Memorial Spirit Award was presented to the school providing the most volunteer support and registered participants (combined total as a percentage of the school’s total 2013-2014 enrollment).  Legacy Elementary was the recipient school and received a $500 bonus as well as a trophy to keep until next year’s event!

The event was organized by Families in Training, a local small business that also coordinates the popular Brambleton Kids Run the Nation youth running program. “I look forward to growing this event in the coming years, “ said Event Organizer, Ashley Campolattaro, owner of Families in Training.

All race-day registration will be outdoors at the Brambleton Town Center to accommodate growing crowds and will be available starting at 11 am on race day. Children who participate in the walk/fun run will receive a jingle bell to proudly wear around their neck as they ring in hope for great causes.

This year’s race beneficiaries include Children’s National Medical Center (The Brain Institute), Capital Caring, and Friends of Loudoun Mental Health. Representatives of each charity will be available to showcase their efforts and services to the community. One hundred percent of all funds raised on behalf of each participating charity will be received by that charity.

Brambleton Town Center Businesses Announce Recent Expansions and Renovations

Brambleton announces today planned and recent expansion or renovations for Brambleton Town Center businesses in 2013.

Go Bananas recently consolidated their two stores into a single location at Brambleton Town Center to bring customers a large selection of toys and introduce in-store activities. The store has been reorganized and brightened, and the children's book department has been expanded.

The award-winning and locally owned toy store has plans to host in-store FUNtivities for children, such as arts and crafts, hands on science discoveries and other fun learning opportunities for children. For a schedule of in-store events, visit the events calendar on their website and their Facebook page for information about upcoming FUNtivities.

HairLoom Studio at Brambleton will rebrand as Illusions Hair Salon & Spa and offer additional services such as massages, facials and nail care. Illusions Hair Salon & Spa will relocate in the coming months to a new suite with an additional 300 square feet in the Town Center. The new location will be next to Misguided Angels, a women’s boutique store.

Building on the success of last year’s grand re-opening, when a new Mediterranean menu was introduced, the owners of Nick’s Corner Grill have added Mediterranean inspired entertainment on the weekends and recently opened an outdoor patio for al fresco dining.

“We’re incredibly proud to see our Town Center businesses grow and expand, and can’t wait to see what else is in store for these retailers and restaurants,” says Kim Adams, Director of Marketing at Brambleton.

Brambleton Town Center welcomed a new pediatric dentistry practice last month, when one of Washingtonian Magazine’s top dentists, Shane Costa, DDS, expanded his general and cosmetic dentistry practice to a second location in Brambleton, as well as opening Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry at Brambleton Town Center in August 2013.

“We chose Brambleton as the location to expand our Family and Cosmetic practice and to open a Pediatric practice because of the family friendly environment, convenient location and supportive community. Brambletonians are engaged and active - there are constant happenings in and around Brambleton. We are proud to both live and work in Brambleton!” says Dr. Shane Costa, DDS, owner of the general and cosmetic practice, as well as Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry.

Northern Virginia Orthodontics recently expanded to include the Northern Virginia Orthodontics Center for Invisalign. The state-of-the-art center is attached to the existing space and is the DC area's first adult-only Invisalign practice. Invisalign has endorsed the practice, and Dr. Zach Casagrande is a national Invisalign speaker and the leading provider in this area.

Dr. Casagrande of Northern Virginia Orthodontics was also recently chosen by the national dental publication Incisal Edge Magazine in their national “Top 40 Dentists Under 40” awards.

Bella Ballerina, a children’s ballet studio, recently expanded their program and introduces adult Barre classes in early October.  Dragon Yong-In Martial Arts will also expand to add more space and classrooms by early 2014.
