Meet the Builder - Mike & Kelly from Pulte Homes

We recently asked Mike and Kelly from Pulte Homes to share their thoughts on Brambleton and why they think this Ashburn, Virginia community is such a desirable place to live.

What is your favorite feature about your model home?

Our favorite feature about our model is the open feeling you get throughout the entire home. Our gourmet kitchens open to a spacious family room. We all know that 90% of the living happens in the family room and kitchen and with the layout that Pulte has created you can cook, entertain, and watch tv all at the same time. Another life tested feature we offer is our “loft” space in all of our homes. The “loft” has been well received by all of our clients! It is a space that can be used so many ways and makes sense for the way people live in their homes today.

What is your best memory of the home you grew up in?

Kelly: I grew up in all new homes in Texas as my Mom was a realtor who then ended up building homes - we moved every four years. My favorite memory was a big brick courtyard with a fire pit and having friends and family over.

Mike: I grew up in a 1,800 square foot townhome in Fairfax. The space was a bit tight but with Rolling Valley Park right behind us, it didn't matter because I was too busy playing basketball at the park with friends. Kids (these days) don’t realize how good they have it, my room was 8x8 and I thought I was living like the Sultan of Brunei because I didn't have to share a room and bunk beds with my brother.

If you were given an extra $10,000 for a home improvement, how would you spend it?

Mike: I would put the majority of the funds into the master bathroom. The Kohler commercials have it right, you can never have enough shower heads! I would start with upgrades in the shower. I would definitely put a thermostat in the shower to gauge the water temperature along with body sprays, dual shower heads, and a rain shower head. Heated tiles and a flat screen tv in the bathroom would finish it off perfectly.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Brambleton and why?

Our favorite restaurant in Brambleton is La Cucina Italiano as they have the best bruchetta. The brick oven fire also gives their pizza a flavor that is hard to duplicate. The service is always friendly and it is nice to see the general manager and owner on the floor checking on clients and making sure everything came out the way you want it.

Explain your most memorable connection or moment with a homebuyer?

One of the most memorable connections happened recently when we sold a home to a young couple and to their parents! The young couple was very excited about their new home at Trent Grove and when one set of parents came to see our homes they also ended up buying a home at Trent Grove.

When the parents first came into the model they had no intentions of purchasing, but after touring through our “life tested” homes, along with taking a tour of the Brambleton neighborhood, they decided to make the move and call Brambleton home. The parents are actually repeat Pulte homeowners as well. They purchased two townhomes from Mike back in 2003 at Laurel Hill in Lorton, Virginia. They had a great experience with Pulte which made this decision that much easier for them (and for their kids!). They are excited to be closer to their kids and to be a part of the Brambleton community.

Why do you think Brambleton is one of the top selling communities in the entire nation?

Brambleton has the “private, gated community” feel without the gates! The community and the people in the community truly make Brambleton what it is today. During the summer concert series you’ll see families out and about on the town center lawn enjoying the music and spending time with one another and with other families in the neighborhood. The schools are phenomenal and all have great reputations! As the town center starts to expand and grow it will only strengthen the appeal and draw of Brambleton. We are excited to see the growth and welcome the new families to this great neighborhood.
