August Edition

Lights, Camera, Action!
The Brambleton Group had a very successful day filming for our very own TV channel on Sunday, August 11th with our new celebrity host, Brett Tutor.  Brambletonians were very much a part of the action and we can't wait to debut the new video series on The Brambleton Verizon FiOS TV channel which is scheduled to debut later this fall and on our Youtube Channel (if you haven't already, be sure to subscribe here so you don't miss out!

Girl Rising at Brambleton was an amazing experience - by Zarif Sahin

"Thank you very much for attending the screening of Girl Rising. I hope you agree that it is a powerful film with a vital message, and I am so pleased you were able to join us. Together we are a part of something big; a movement that will change the future one girl at a time.  As you’ve seen, millions of girls around the world face barriers to education that boys do not. Your support takes us one step closer to helping girls everywhere get the education they deserve and the future they dream of.

It was a privilege to host the screening of Girl Rising. I am so happy to share that my efforts to bring Girl Rising to Loudoun County was a SUCCESS! Around 250 people attended and supported us.  Some of them already made commitments to screening the film in their communities, like Washington DC, City of Fairfax, (Alamo) Ashburn, and Virginia Tech.

I encourage you to continue raising awareness for these girls by staying in touch with 10x10: Girl Rising, hosting a screening, and engaging in conversations regarding Girl Rising. To Take Action, please click here.

I express my sincere gratitude to my co-hosts Tina Johnson and Kristina Bouweiri, our sponsors:  Brambleton, Nick’s Corner Grill, Copy General, W Salon, and Alimond Photography for their generous contributions in making Girl Rising in Brambleton possible.  You can view all the pictures of the event here."

Bicycle Outfitters Triathlon was Red Hot!

Every summer, Northern Virginia Magazine hosts an online competition to sniff out the cutest dogs in all of NoVA. To get their readers involved, Northern Virginia Magazine hosted their Dog Days of Summer- Wagfest 2013 event at Brambleton Town Center on Saturday July 20th.

They kicked off this pet-centric event with a Mutt Strut around the town center, followed by tips on summer pet safety from Sit Means Sit dog trainers, live music from local band Mars Rodeo, free raffle prizes, and a nice cool down from the Arcola Fire Department.  The top 10 cutest dogs were also announced at the event, which were chosen by Northern Virginia Magazine’s readers.  Friends, family, furry pals, and all event goers had a wonderful time. B_Fit and Healthy
Imagine a pill so powerful that taken on a regular basis will significantly reduce your risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, multiple cancers, and early death. It would also reduce depression, improve sleep quality, help prevent weight gain, and improve brain function. Would you stock your medicine cabinet with it? How much would you be willing to pay for this magical medicine?

Good news for Brambletonians--your doctor can write you a prescription for this right now, and it won’t cost you a cent at the pharmacy counter!  This too-good-to-be-true medicine is exercise. Check out the new B_Fit trail for a fun way to do just that! And be sure to join us on the B_Fit in Brambleton Facebook page to learn about fun contests with cool prizes for B_Fit trail participants during the month of August.

Brambleton Bettas Wrap Up A Season Undefeated
Congratulations to the Brambleton Bettas Swim Team, who successfully completed a perfect 7-0 season for the first time in the team's 9 year history. The team also secured a win at the Patsy Graham Invitational, at Divisionals, and most recently, a 2nd place finish at the All-Stars meet.

With close to 300 swimmers and 28 mini Bettas, the team has seen tremendous growth over the years. While many kids begin enjoying the lazy days of summer once school is out, the Bettas are hitting the pool for practice every morning with two swim meets a week.  After going undefeated through the regular season, the Bettas continued their momentum into a fantastic Divisional meet. Not only did the Bettas win by a convincing margin of victory (doubling 2nd place's points), coaches saw some outstanding improvements and major time drops.
