Dog Calendar Donations

The 2014 Pawsitively Brambleton Dog Calendars have arrived! Just as last year, we are accepting cash and pet supply donations on behalf of Friends of Homeless Animals in exchange for calendars.  Some of the items on FOHA shelter’s wish list this year include blankets, thunder shirts, dog toys, first aid supplies for dogs and Regal dog and cat food.  You may drop off your donations in the Brambleton Welcome Center, open daily, 11:00 – 6:00pm.

Nearly $5,000 in prizes and awards will be distributed at the fourth annual Ringing In Hope: A New Year’s Eve Celebration race on December 31st at the Brambleton Town Center.  Registration is still open and volunteers are needed!  This race draws participants from all over the region and from around the county. The event features a 5K & 10K race on a USATF certified scenic course and a 1K walk/fun run. The walk kicks off at 12:00 pm, followed by the 5K and 10K races at 1 pm and 1:15 pm, respectively. This family-oriented “fun-racing” event included a USATF certified 5k course and a kids’ fun run. Designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and engage local communities in support of their schools, the event exceeded expectations for a first-year event.

DAAR Economic Update

“We think there have been two game changers for Loudoun County over last 50 years,”
Rizer said. “The first was [Dulles] airport. The second is the Internet—when AOL came here in 1997 and the Internet hub moved from Tysons to Loudoun. The next game changer for Loudoun will be the Metro. We are focused on Loudoun 2018. That is when Metro will get here…we are confident in that. We are working to make sure that Loudoun County is ready.” Click here to read the full Leesburg Today article.

Metro has released a revised map of the regional transportation system. The map now shows both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Silver Line. The redesign of the original Metro map was done by Lance Wyman, a New York-based graphic artist who led the effort to design the original. The map can be found here.

Utility Location and Geotechnical Testing for Phase 2 Starts on Greenway

Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project Phase 2 is more and more visible these days as preliminary construction work for the second segment of the Silver Line moves forward. Crews in early October expanded survey and geotechnical testing work to the Dulles Greenway in Loudoun County. Click here to view the Dulles Metro October newsletter.
