Brambleton Receives Runner Friendly Community Designation
The Road Runner Club of America, the oldest and largest distance running organization in the United States, recently selected Brambleton as a 2012 Runner Friendly Community.  With the designation as a Road Runners Club of America Runner Friendly Community, Brambleton hopes to continue to inspire residents and encourage our youth to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.  Loudoun Times article:

Brambleton Sport & Health Participates in Guiness Attempt
Several county pools participated in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson to raise awareness about a leading cause of accident deaths in children 1-5.  The official worldwide number of participants is not yet known, but 50 Ashburn swimmers at the Brambleton Sport & Health Club participated in a coordinated attempt to break a Guinness World Record for The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, or WLSL. 
More than 500 aquatic facilities representing 25 different countries on five continents and 46 states in the United States registered to participate, including Sport & Health.  The event grows each year. In 2011, more than 20,000 swimmers participated in 13 countries, which was a 400 percent increase over the previous year, which established the record.  Ashburn Patch Article:

First Brambleton Kids Triathlon to support local youth organization
Swim, Bike and Run to the finish!  The Brambleton Community Association is excited to kick off its first Kids Triathlon, scheduled for Saturday, September 1, 2012.  The event is open to the public and will be held at the Community Center Pool located at 42645 Regal Wood Drive.  Their goal is to ensure a safe, high quality experience for athletes and their families; to donate proceeds to a charitable youth organization; and to encourage a fit and healthy lifestyle for youth in and around Brambleton. Brambleton’s  Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts Kick Off Summer
Our Summer Concert Series kicked off with a "Magical Summer" theme, starting with a performance for the kids by The Great Zucchini at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Center Plaza & then the band HyJinx performed high energy party rock songs.  Summer has now officially arrived! Flickr photos:

RED, WHITE, and BRAM Celebration
Brambleton’s Pre-July 4th Red, White & BRAM celebration held on Saturday, June 30th began with families enjoying field day games, a volleyball and dodgeball tournament followed by great entertainment from Pat Somers’ Rock Shop, Mason Vixon, All Natural and a fantastic fireworks display. Flickr Photos: / Youtube Video:

Sounds of live music and smells of funnel cake filled the air Saturday evening during the Seventh Annual YouthFest 2012 at the Brambleton Town Center.  Hundreds of teens and families gathered for the event from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.—with a huge pool of people gazing at the professional-looking stage, where local bands and soloists performed.

Self-taught photographer Kamran Grasselli is slowly growing his hobby into a part-time profession. The Brambleton resident—who works full time as s senior technical writer for Advanced Biometric Controls, LLC, a computer software and application company located in Reston—recently traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to visit his wife Irena Grasselli’s family with her and their two children. “Loudoun’s In” - Board Votes to Support Silver Line
“This is a huge investment in Loudoun’s future,” said Tony Howard, president of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, which represents 1,200 businesses. “It’s important not just for our economy in the next quarter or the next year, but for a payoff that will be generational. . . . The chamber is absolutely elated.”
The Silver Line’s first leg, expected to be running by August 2013, will pass through Tysons Corner to Wiehle Avenue in Reston. When the entire line — which is being built by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority — is completed, it will span 23 miles of rail between East Falls Church and Ashburn.

Things to Do in Loudoun County this Summer

This summer has already proven to be record-breaking in the temperature department, and now we’re on the search for fun things to do to survive this heatwave. From outdoor concerts to wine tastings and even doggie events, Loudoun County is where the fun begins this summer!

1. Brambleton Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series
Brambleton invites the community to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy live music while catching up with neighbors on select Thursday nights throughout the summer. Each night will have a different theme with a pre-concert activity and giveaway for children starting at 6:30 pm. Concerts begin at 7 pm. 

When: July 19 – Aug 16, 6:30pm
Where: Brambleton Town Center

2. Pat Sommers’ Acoustic End of Summer Celebration
Pat Sommers' Rock Shop is an audition-only music program for talented teens in the Northern Virginia area.  This program assembles young musicians in bands that come together to learn and play great covers of all your favorite music (from the 70s to today) plus write original songs as well.  Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy a night of great music by rising stars.

3. Adopt a Dog Day
An afternoon of wine tasting, BBQ, live music, and puppy love! Get a free bottle of wine with each adoption.

Carnival rides, fried food, bull riding and pig-kissing contests. Yep, we’re talking about the Loudoun County Fair.

Brambleton Town Center has tons of ways to keep you cool this summer.
