Halloween in Loudoun County

What will your costume be this Halloween? Whether you’re a ninja, a princess, or your favorite superhero be sure to check out the events happening around Loudoun County!

            Brambleton Town Center is the perfect place to get in the spirit of all things Spooky. Start by watching a scary movie at Regal Cinemas or getting some festive foods at Harris Teeter. If your little ones still haven’t found the perfect costume stop by Go Bananas Toy Store for a great selection of classic costumes. On October 28th from 1:30pm – 3:30pm the Brambleton Town Center will host an exciting afternoon of trick-or-treating store to store. If you’re looking to have a real thrill of a time this Halloween you’re in luck; we’ve rounded up a few frightful events in Loudoun County!

1. Trunk-Or-Treat Vehicle Contest & Flashlight Candy Hunt – We know you can make your house scary but can you decorate your car in the spirit of Halloween? Bring the kids in their best costume to the Trunk-Or-Treat Vehicle contest where they can trick-or-treat from car to car. At the end of the evening there will be a bonfire with snacks and a take home pumpkin with candy.

2. Shocktober at Paxton ManorEvery Friday, Saturday and Sunday night during the month of October many will brave to enter Paxton Manor. Located in Leesburg, VA this haunted tour is sure to spook its visitors. This event is not recommended for children under 13, as it is designed to be intense, interactive and extremely scary. There will be refreshments, concessions, and live music for people to enjoy after their ghostly encounter. Check out the Paxton Manor website for special events.

3. Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade – Bring the whole family to enjoy the parade festivities including; floats, high school marching bands, police units, fire and rescue units, politicians, and decorated vehicles. The Leesburg parade has been a tradition since 1957 and is a great way to bring the community together with costumes and candy. Please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Loudoun Interfaith Relief food pantry.

What's Trending in Brambleton - September Edition

The Votes are in for Your Favorite Brambleton Dogs - Voting took place on Facebook for the "Top Dogs" to be featured in Brambleton’s “2013 Pawsitively Brambleton” calendar!  The calendars will debut this fall and proceeds will benefit the Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA). To view all the lucky winners, click here:

We're Runner Friendly!- Our community was recently awarded the prestigious "Runner Friendly Community" designation by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Brambleton believes that many businesses in our community meet the Road Runners Club of America's definition of a Runner Friendly Business. To show their support for the local running community, these businesses will be displaying window stickers indicating that they are engaged with the running community.  Among many benefits, these businesses may serve as a safe place for runners to stop if they need to use the phone or get out of unsafe weather, fill a water bottle to prevent dehydration, or use their bathroom facilities. Be on the lookout for these stickers

3rd Annual Brambleton Geocaching Event­ – The Brambleton Group will be hosting their 3rd Annual Brambleton Geocaching Event at the Fall Festival, Saturday, October 6th, from 4-7pm.  This year’s exclusive Brambleton Geocache Coin has been ordered and the giveaway this year is the brand new Google Tablet, the “Nexus 7.”  You can view the details of the event here:

Emerald Ridge Trails Now Open - Brambleton has been busy over the summer adding 3 ½ miles of new trails to the Emerald Ridge neighborhood.  These trails include benches, pet stations, bridges and underground tunnels on Belmont Ridge and North Star Boulevard.  Who needs the W&OD trail now when you can walk, run or bike right in your own back yard?  Flickr photos here:

Racers Swim, Bike, Run Through Brambleton - Mothers, fathers, siblings and friends filled the streets of Brambleton—holding posters bearing supportive messages, shaking pom-poms to create a spirited atmosphere and screaming out chants—to cheer on the 160 children participating in the first annual Brambleton Kids Triathlon.  Leesburg Today article:

Ø      Brambleton's Harris Teeter has begun improvements on their store at the Town Center.  You will soon be able to pick up your favorite Starbucks drink before you shop!  Did you know their flagship store is this one located in Brambleton? 
Ø      Go Bananas Gives Back: Shop for a Cause Event - Registration is now open for this annual event! Invite your group to shop at Go Bananas any day between 9/23-9/28 and Go Bananas will donate 10% of their purchases to your participating school, charity, team or other non-profit organization.  Registration is required in order to have your group included in this event and to establish a point of contact. Please call them to gather your group's information. Once your group is registered, be sure to spread the word. The more people who shop for your cause, the more Go Bananas will give back.

Briar Woods Football Season Preview - The Briar Woods Falcons kick off the 2012 season at home Friday night against the Patriot Pioneers of Prince William County. After going 14-1 and winning a second-straight AA Division 4 State Championship last year, the Falcons return a slew of starters from that championship team, and appear poised to make a run at an unprecedented third state title. Good News in County Benchmarks - Responses to survey questions highlight Loudoun County’s outstanding quality of life.  One purpose of Loudoun County’s survey of residents is to get an accurate reading of how the public feels about county services and “quality of life” issues. The 2012 survey provides a snapshot of public opinion last spring. It also serves as a benchmark when comparing this year’s results to those obtained in past surveys, which date back to 1995.  In general, the rankings in all these areas were very good news, especially for economic development and real estate interests.  Leesburg Patch Article:
